Everything you need to know about Palm Jebel Ali

    Wed  21-06-2023

The construction of Palm Jebel Ali began in 2002 and was halted in 2009 due to the global financial crisis. However, the project was revived in May 2023 and is expected to be completed by 2030. Palm Jebel Ali is a grande development that will significantly impact Dubai serving as an important tourist destination and a hub for business and leisure. The palm-shaped structure consisting of a trunk and 17 fronds will be located off the coast of Jebel Ali, an industrial area in Dubai.

When completed, Palm Jebel Ali will be twice the size of Palm Jumeirah, the first Palm Island. It will have a total area of 13.4 square kilometers and add 110 kilometers to the coastline of Dubai. The island will be home to over 35,000 families, 80 hotels and resorts, and various commercial and leisure facilities.

The key features include:

● A mix of residential, commercial, and leisure facilities and a golf course.

● All seventeen fronds will have their own unique character and facilities.

● A crescent-shaped barrier will protect the archipelago from coastal erosion.

● A network of canals that will provide scenic routes around the island.

● Various public beaches include a family beach, a sports beach, and private beaches for hotel guests.

The benefits to the city include:

Increased tourism: The island will attract thousands of tourists annually to its beaches and resorts, boosting Dubai\'s hospitality industry.

● Increased investment: The development of Palm Jebel Ali will attract billions of dollars in investment, creating jobs and stimulating the economy.

● Improved infrastructure: The development will require the construction of new roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, which the Jebel Ali area currently doesn't have.

● Increased environmental awareness: Palm Jebel Ali\'s construction will be sustainable, minimizing the environmental impact.

Palm Jebel Ali is the second of three Palm Islands in the master plan by Nakheel, the state-owned property developer. Regarding the other two palm projects, the famous Palm Jumeirah began construction in 2001 and has been open to residents since 2007. The third island, Palm Deira, was scheduled for completion in 2015, but construction halted in 2007 due to the crisis. In 2013, Nakheel rebranded it to Deira Islands and rebranded it in 2022 to Dubai Islands. The first of five Dubai islands is open to the public.
